It swept through the desolate landscape bringing a sound as refreshing as that first cool sip on a scorching afternoon, yet as massive and riotous as a mastodon stampede. Uncompromising, passionate and loud, yet soulful, melodic and healing, it went by many monikers â??grungeâ? or â??Seattle soundâ? but perhaps the most poignant was what it in fact DID for true fans of music â?¦ it gave us an ALTERNATIVE. No music since the early 70â??s so moved a generation of disaffected youth as did the music of â??Pearl Jamâ?, â??Soundgardenâ?, â??Alice in Chainsâ?, â??Nirvanaâ?, and the â??Stone Temple Pilots.â? The void created by a stagnant scene was the impetus for the perfect conditions that caused the rise of this magnificent monolith, whose music was important then and perhaps even more relevant today as it inspires fans and artists of all mediums to open their eyes and really look around at the world.
